Neuville out to build experience

Thierry Neuville has been told to build his experience of FIA World Rally Championship competition when he restarts ADAC Rallye Deutschland this morning.

Neuville was closing on a podium place when he crashed at high speed on a right-hand bend 34 kilometres into the first Arena Panzerplatte test on Saturday. His Citroen Junior World Rally Team mechanics have repaired his damaged DS3 WRC and the Belgian will restart 10th on the road in 14th overall.

“It was very disappointing of course for Thierry because his pace was perfect and he was achieving what we asked,” said Citroen Racing Technologies head Benoit Nogier. “The pace note was bad, it was a mistake because he’s new and he still needs experience. Although it was a very scary crash in a fast place only the front of the car was damaged and it will be running perfectly this morning.”

Nogier continued: “Now the very important thing for Thierry is to run all the stages of the championship. This morning is a new one for him and he has to be prepared for next year so we are just running these stages and then he will go home and get ready for the next rally.”
