Bruno Senna incurs 5-place grid (...)

Bruno Senna’s Singapore Grand Prix has been dealt yet another misfortunate blow ahead of today’s race, as the Brazilian driver has incurred a 5-place grid penalty after his mechanics were forced to change his gearbox prior to the race. After making contact with the wall and damaging his suspension, the team also discovered damage to the gearbox.

After being unable to set a timed lap during Q2, Bruno Senna initially qualified a lowly 17th in comparison to team-mate Pastor Maldonado who was able to qualify a superlative 2nd alongside Lewis Hamilton. This was the second incident for Senna of the weekend, after the Williams driver tapped the wall on the exit of turn 19 during the second practice session, and spun with suspension damage.

This penalty will demote the 28-year-old Brazilian to a dismal 22nd on the grid, amongst the likes of Caterham and Marussia. Starting from the back of the pack will present Senna with a tough 61-lap race later today, as he strives to claw his way through the field around the tight and twisty confines of the Marina Bay street circuit.
