Buemi is Suzuka bound

After Singapore, I headed back to Europe to do all those glamorous things you expect Formula 1 drivers to do, like tidy up at home and do my laundry! I called in to see the family in Switzerland too. I also had to go and buy a new suitcase as the one I started the season with has not stood up to the demands of travelling too well and it was falling apart.

On the first day home, I felt a bit tired which is understandable given that Singapore is one of the toughest races from the physical point of view, because of the heat and humidity, but because we all stayed on European time while we were out there, I had no problem with jet-lag and was able to pick up my training programme right away. I have my own gym equipment at home which makes life easier and I don’t really like running in the streets, especially now that the weather is changing as we head into autumn.
I watched the Singapore race again on TV, which is always a useful exercise to get a better understanding of what happened, looking at the view from outside the cockpit. As usual, I spent time on the phone, talking with my race engineer, already planning for the next race in Japan. It was not all work and fitness training, because the final part of the season, with these four races coming up very quickly, is going to be very demanding, so I made a point of just relaxing a bit at home.

Last year, we had a hectic time in Suzuka and I gave the mechanics some extra work, as I crashed the car, but the overall memory I have of last year’s Japanese Grand Prix is a positive one, because the car ran competitively on Friday and Saturday. I reckon that should also be the case this year and I’m really looking forward to being there. There are reasons to be optimistic about the weekend, because our car has definitely been more competitive since Monza, so I’m going there in attacking mode. I like Japan, which is a completely different world to the one I come from. A couple of years ago I managed to visit Tokyo, but this time we are heading straight for Suzuka, where the best thing is the track itself, which is one of the very best of the season.
