Fauzy to race with Lotus in 2010 - rumour

According to a murmur sweeping the Sepang media centre during Friday’s second practice session, Fairuz Fauzy could race a Lotus later in 2010.

After practicing in Heikki Kovalainen’s green T127 on Friday morning, the 27-year-old Malaysian apparently told a reporter that team boss Tony Fernandes has hinted that he might be given a chance to race at some point this season.

Finn Kovalainen’s teammate is fellow grand prix winner Jarno Trulli.

A few days ago, Fernandes said he opted to pay Kovalainen and Trulli this year, rather than collect a couple of cheques from pay-drivers.

"If you want to be serious about this sport then you’ve got to have the best drivers you can afford and you can get," he said.

"It’s a short term thing to get a cheque," Fernandes added.

Meanwhile, Red Bull’s reliability woes continue in Malaysia, with Mark Webber abandoning his RB6 in a gravel trap after experiencing a sudden loss of power during second Friday practice.
