Force India in hot water

Force India is in potential trouble after failing to file their 2008 finances and should the situation remain unchanged, could be forced to close according to a report in the Daily Telegraph.

The newspaper claims that the accounts for the Silverstone-based firm were due at the end of October and late last month Companies House ’sent a notice of dissolution’ to the team’s directors. Such a notice means that a partnership, or firm, is dissolved.

“We have been discussing an extension to that filing deadline with Companies House because we needed more time to get the accounts in order,” explained Force India COO Otmar Szafnauer. “On January 28 we got written confirmation of a deadline extension to the February 25. If we don’t make this the question is then what happens."

Szafnauer went on to say that he was confident that the team could file their accounts by the new deadline but a Companies House representative made clear that ‘the ball is in their court’.

“If we don’t receive any accounts in the next three months we are going to strike the company off."
