Green light for 2011 China race
Shanghai circuit gets a new license
China’s Shanghai circuit has received the green light for its 2011 race.
The April event was originally given only a provisional date on this year’s calendar, pending an FIA inspection to approve improvement works at the seven-year-old venue.
It was reported that the main improvement at the $240 million facility was in the area of track subsidence and drainage.
Subsequently, organisers inked a new seven-year deal with Formula One Management.
On Wednesday, FIA inspectors headed by Charlie Whiting checked the Hermann Tilke-designed circuit and issued a new license, the Shanghai Daily reported.
Promoter Juss Event Management confirmed that the new license is valid for the next three years.
