Romain Grosjean is disappointed with only 10th after qualifying for the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, in which the Frenchman struggled for grip during the all-important top ten shootout. Grosjean’s team-mate, Kimi Raikkonen, also endured a tough qualifying session, eventually finishing 5th.

However, Romain Grosjean is confident that there is more to come from himself and the car during tomorrow’s 55-lap race. With the Lotus E20 handling better during the early stages of the qualifying session, the Frenchman is confident he can improve up the order once the action gets underway around the Yas Marina circuit. In recent races, Grosjean has finished consistently in the points, despite failing to qualify as high as team-mate Kimi Raikkonen.

"It wasn’t a great qualifying lap for me today, and P10 is not where we want to be on the grid.” Admitted Romain Grosjean, after the qualifying session. “In the last run in Q3 I had no grip so wasn’t able to find more pace. The car had felt fine before that and we looked good through the other qualifying sessions. It just means I have some more work to do in the race and I think there’s more to come from me and the car."

Romain Grosjean has only ever competed in one Formula 1 event around the Yas Marina circuit, back in 2009 during his debut season with Renault. Back then, the Frenchman qualified 19th and finished the race in 18th, a result which he is more than likely to emulate tomorrow, regarding he finishes the race and avoids any first lap incidents.
