All-star driver line-up for Subaru in IRC

Subaru will support an all-star driver line-up in this year’s Intercontinental Rally Challenge after registering as an official IRC manufacturer for a third successive season.

Young guns Andreas Aigner and Jarkko Nikara plus reigning IRC Production Cup champion Toshi Arai will all benefit from the backing of the iconic Japanese car make in 2012.

A joint statement from Fuji Heavy Industries and Subaru Tecnica International said: “Subaru will once again register as a manufacturer in the IRC. This will enable its customers who enter the series to acquire points. In addition to Arai, Subaru will be supporting Jarkko Nikara from Finland and Andreas Aigner from Austria in 2012.”

Exact programmes for all three drivers have yet to be announced but Aigner’s campaign with the leading Stohl Racing team is expected to include the rounds in Corsica, Belgium, Romania, Czech Republic and Cyprus.
