Harry Hunt says learning more about his Citroën DS3 R3 on Rally Islas Canarias El Corte Inglés outweighed the delays he suffered on the opening day of the asphalt event earlier this month.

The 22-year-old from the United Kingdom was competing with new co-driver Robbie Durant for the first time and finished sixth in the IRC 2WD Cup in 20th overall.

However, he lost more than five minutes with a fuel pump problem and a front-right puncture on day one.

“I’m constantly learning and the performances are getting better and better, which is the most important thing,” said Hunt, who won the IRC 2WD Cup in 2010. “We had a few problems on this rally but we’ve got to the finish and got a whole load of kilometres under our belts, which is really important for the rest of the season. We know so much more than before we started and I just can’t wait now for the next [IRC] rally in Corsica.”

Hunt’s I Cars Motorsport team is planning a two-day test in Italy before Tour de Corse-E.Leclerc, which runs from May 12-14.
