Ingrassia not frustrated by lack of outright fight

Sebastien Ogier’s co-driver Julien Ingrassia insists the French aces won’t feel any sense of frustration when ADAC Rallye Deutschland gets underway this morning.

The Volkswagen Motorsport pair won the FIA World Rally Championship round last season when they were members of the factory Citroen team.

Their switch to Volkswagen to help the German firm prepare for the debut of its Polo R WRC in 2013 means they are spending this year competing in a Super 2000-specification Skoda Fabia, which is less powerful than the top of the range World Rally Cars and therefore not capable of outright victory.

“Winning again is forgotten about and a long time ago,” said Ingrassia, pictured right with Ogier. “We took this decision to come with Volkswagen and we took the decision then to take the rallies in a different condition and we immediately stopped thinking about fighting with the big guns in front, it was our choice.

“We do the work with the Polo and use the Skoda to keep working on the pace notes by doing the rallies. We have an eye on the World Rally Cars but we have a lot of work to do with the other Super 2000 cars like Andreas Mikkelsen, Mathieu Arzeno and Sepp Wiegand. We must push to get the first place in this category, that is enough.”
