McRae: I want to stay in IRC

PROTON driver Alister McRae says he is determined to remain in the Intercontinental Rally Challenge next season, with the Scot talking to two teams about the 2011 series.

The former British Rally Champion contested two IRC rounds in a Satria Neo S2000, with his best performance on last week’s Rally of Scotland, where he was running in the top six before an electrical problem ruined his hopes of bettering the second overall he achieved on Britain’s IRC round in 2009.

McRae is talking to both PROTON and Peugeot UK about a possible IRC seat next season.

He said: “This is a great championship, it’s so competitive, it’s right where I want to be. I feel I’ve still got a great deal to offer as a driver. It was a shame we didn’t get the chance to show the pace at home in Scotland, the Satria’s definitely come on: the engine’s stronger and the dampers are really working well now.”
