Ogier looks ahead to Polo future

Sebastien Ogier celebrated his top 10 finish on Neste Oil Rally Finland by looking ahead to next year’s event when he will tackle the high-speed gravel stages in Volkswagen’s all-new Polo R WRC.

Ogier is contesting the bulk of this year’s FIA World Rally Championship in a Super 2000-specificaiton Skoda Fabia as he continues to build his and his Volkswagen Motorsport team’s experience of the events in preparation for the 2013 season.

“We’re always thinking about next season and for sure the goal will be to be here with the Polo and for sure one day to win with the Polo,” said Ogier. “In five months we will almost be at the start of Rallye Monte-Carlo and for sure that will be a great moment for us. I don’t know how we will be performing but for sure it will be important for the team.”

Ogier finished 10th overall in Finland alongside co-driver Julien Ingrassia after completing Friday afternoon’s action with damaged suspension sustained in a hard impact.

“I’m happy with the result and the job we have done this weekend because it’s another very good experience for the future,” said the 28-year-old Frenchman. “We had a hard impact on the first stage of the last loop on Friday and the link was completely gone so we had to finish the day carefully. Luckily it was not so rough and I’m happy we finished the day with just one minute lost.”
