SS8: Protasov storms back to top of leaderboard

Yalta Rally - News after SS8

Yuriy Protasov has regained the lead over his Intercontinental Rally Challenge competitors on Prime Yalta Rally following a blisteringly quick stage time on SS8.

Piloting an M-Sport Ford Fiesta RRC, Ukraine’s Protasov completed the second running of the 28.95-kilometre Al Petri 2 stage with a time of 18m27.1s. Turkey’s Yağiz Avci was second quickest through the test at the wheel of a Ford Fiesta S2000.

Third quickest through SS8 was Vizin László in a ŠKODA Fabia Super 2000, completing the test 12.4s faster than leading IRC 2WD Cup driver Robert Consani who was fourth quickest in his Renault Mégane RS. In the overall classifications, László and Consani are third and fourth respectively.

Following problems for Marco Tempestini on SS8, Frenchman Consani has now moved up to lead both the IRC Production Cup and the IRC 2WD Cup.
