The GP2 Series season continues (...)

It’s not even been a week since the opening round of the 2010 GP2 Series season in Barcelona but the Paddock has already moved to the prestigious and challenging streets of Monaco for the second round of an already thrilling year.

As expected, rookies have definitely by now marked their territory in Formula One’s strongest feeder category: while ART’s Jules Bianchi snatched pole position at Circuit de
Catalunya ahead of Addax’s and sophomore Perez and teammate Sam Bird, it was Arden’s Charles Pic who crossed the finish line first, pocketing a deserved maiden win in the European Series. And again, the following day, in the Sprint race, it was another rookie who displayed impressive skills: starting from reversed pole position, Ocean’s Fabio Leimer unabashedly led from lights to flag to score his first ever GP2 win and his team’s second
success in the Series.

Pic is currently logically leading in the drivers’ standings ahead of the young Leimer and Giacomo Ricci, but in the teams’ classification, Italian squad Rapax is on top thanks to strong performances from Luiz Razia and Pastor Maldonado. And speaking of the veteran Venezuelan, if there is a track where he is seen as the man to beat it is Monte Carlo:
after a strong pre-season testing campaign and a first podium in the 2010 season, he will most definitely be once more quick and constant in Monaco.

The weather forecast is looking like it’s going to play a big part in this season’s new chapter: slippery streets, close walls, powerful pieces of machinery and thirty young guns ready to take on any challenge thrown their way... Bring on the action!
